1. Overview & Zero-Permanent-Storage Architecture

SmartAssPDF ("we", "us", or "our") provides free, open-source-powered online document utilities. We operate under a strict Zero-Permanent-Storage Architecture. We do not require account registration, do not collect personal profiles, and never sell, rent, or trade your document contents to any third party.

2. Uploaded Documents & Processing Lifecycle

When you upload a file to perform a conversion, repair, OCR scan, comparison, sanitization, or merge:

• Your file is securely transmitted over TLS 1.3 encryption to our stateless backend service.
• Files are stored temporarily in an isolated, randomized UUID folder on the server solely for the duration required to complete the transformation.
• Automated 30-Minute File Destruction: All original uploaded documents and converted output files are automatically and permanently deleted by an automated cleanup daemon 30 minutes after creation.
• We do not inspect, index, train artificial intelligence models on, or create backups of your private document contents.

3. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising Disclosures

SmartAssPDF displays advertisements provided by Google AdSense and third-party advertising networks to maintain free access to our tools. In compliance with Google's European User Consent policies and global privacy standards:

• DoubleClick DART Cookies: Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to SmartAssPDF and other sites on the Internet.
• Consent Management: Visitors can accept or decline non-essential cookies via our built-in Cookie Consent manager. You can adjust your choices anytime in our Cookie & Local Storage Policy.
• Personalized Advertising Opt-Out: You may also opt out of personalized advertising via Google Ads Settings, www.aboutads.info, or the Network Advertising Initiative Opt-Out Page.
• Third-Party Ad Networks: Third-party ad servers or networks may use technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons to measure campaign effectiveness and personalize ad content. SmartAssPDF has no access to or control over third-party cookies.

4. Log Files & Anonymous Telemetry

Like most web servers, SmartAssPDF logs standard, non-personally identifiable server traffic records for system health, abuse prevention, and rate limiting. These log entries include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamps, referring/exit pages, and error logs. Log data is not linked to any personally identifiable information and is routinely rotated and purged.

5. Passwords & Cryptographic Keys

When you utilize our Protect PDF or Unlock PDF utilities, passwords and cryptographic keys are passed exclusively in-memory to the PDFBox security handler. Passwords are never written to disk, never logged to diagnostic consoles, and are immediately cleared from JVM heap memory once the file stream is flushed.

6. GDPR Rights (European Economic Area & UK Users)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you are entitled to rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:

• The right to access, rectify, or erase any personal data held about you.
• The right to restrict or object to the processing of your personal data.
• The right to data portability.
• The right to withdraw consent at any time for cookie-based personalized tracking via our Cookie Policy.

Because SmartAssPDF does not store accounts, emails, or persistent files, we do not retain identifiable personal records on our servers.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to know what personal data is collected and request its deletion. SmartAssPDF does not sell or share personal information or document data to data brokers or commercial third parties.

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

SmartAssPDF does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has submitted personal data to our platform, please contact us immediately and we will promptly purge the data from our temporary server logs.
